Ancient City of Orik

The city lies along Vlora’s southwestern coast, very near the Karaburun peninsula. Archaeological remnants reveal the province as one of the most important among the highly developed southern settlements! It was actually in ancient Orik that Ceasar prepared his attacks against those who did not obey the southern Italian cities. Unfortunately, during the communist period in Albania, archeological excavations in Orikum were limited. At the time, the area functioned solely as a military base. Indeed, the establishment of the Archaeological Park of Orikum, within the military base of Pashaliman, happened only a few years ago. The park is open every day of the week, from 9 am to 6 pm. Among many other ruins, the park includes especially beautiful traces of an ancient Roman-style theater.

You can enjoy the crystal water in the famous orikum beach.

Llogara National Park

A national park centred on the Cerunian mountains along the Albanian coast in south-western Albania, covering an area of 1010 hectares. The park’s terrain includes large alpine meadows and dense forests.The park features outstanding diversity with the landscape ranging from the alpine peaks of the Ceraunian Mountains covered with snow in winter to the sunny Albanian Ionian Sea Coast in summer.

 A paragliding site serving annually as the 9th FAI World Paragliding Accuracy Championship venue is located south of the park. Along the twisting road are several local vendors of honey and mountain tea.

Caesar’s Pass, named after Julius Caesar who marched down near the area in pursuit of Pompey, is also located nearby the Llogara Pass.

The promenade in Vlore

Stretching along the Ionian coast, is one of the best places for relaxing walks, meditation, yoga, cycling and other sports, socialisation and all sorts of parades. This 5 km-long paved road, with gateways into town and the beach, is the most modern part of this coastal city. Lined with palm trees and typical Mediterranean plants, it sits in perfect harmony with the surrounding space.

 As you come closer to the end of the track, you will notice what can be best described as the “glass balcony of the city.” This particular balcony is yet another spot that affords beautiful panoramas of the sea.

Lagoon of Patok

When the coast, lagoon, estuaries or marshes meet each other, the result is undoubtedly impressive. it is the case of the Patok-Fushë Kuqe-Ishëm natural park.

Over 358 species of tall plants and up to 179 species of birds populate the entire area, turning it into a true paradise for biodiversity enthusiasts. The flora and fauna of the Patok Lagoon attract thousands of visitors every year, who, through boat trips in the calm Lagoon, have the opportunity to see a real natural treasure up close.

it is only 50 km from Tirana, The landscape is further embellished by the small wooden huts built on the lagoon, which from a distance create the feeling as if you are observing the famous bungalows of the Pacific islands. In these wooden huts you will be able to enjoy the traditional and delicious cooking of Patok’s restaurants

Shengjin beach

Located 8 km far away from the town of Lezhe .Shengjin is well known for its high quality of sand beaches. In this place there are 200 to 300 days with the sun during the year. Only 2, 5 km north of Shen Gjin in the foot of the hills there is the famous beach “of Powdered sand” (Rera e Hedhur) This quite beach is well protected from the winds. In Shen Gjin there are plenty of tourist facilities for visitors, including hotels, bars restaurant, playground for kids, resorts etc. Sunbathing, swimming, sailing and fishing are the main activities

Lezhe Castle

Located on the top of the hill 186 meters high overlooking the town. Because of the strategic location from here the visitor can see the outlet of Drin River, the Adriatic coast and even the mount Tomorr and Sazan Island in south. The castle dates since the Illyrian times bit it has been reconstructed by venetians in the year 1440 .After, the ottomans did another reconstruction in the year 1552. The visitor can see the ruins from the Illyrian, Romans, and Venetian, Byzantine and Ottoman periods.

The memorial tomb of Skanderbeg.

It is one of the most tourist landmarks in the town of Lezhe. It has been inaugurated in the year 1981 over the ruins of a Saint Nicholas cathedral. It is supposed as the place where the national hero has been buried in 1468. In the walls of the memorial tomb there are exposed 25 shields, which symbolize the main battles leaded by Scanderbeg. There is also a copy of his sword and helmet.

 

The lagoon of Kune – Vain

This rich coastal system is located in the outlet of river Drin, in south of Shengjin beach. It represents one of the most important coastal eco – systems in all Albanian coastlines. This in terms of flora and fauna, and in particular for the rich presence of water fowls. There are two lagoons, Ceka and Merxhan  .

At the right direction from the outlet of Drin delta there is the alluvial island of Kune. It has a very rich hygrophyte vegetation. There are recorded 227 kind of vegetation’s.

In this system there are 70 kinds of birds, 22 kind of reptiles 6 kind of amphibious. The area is suitable for eco – tourism and bird watching .

Ishull Lezhe

It is a hamlet in south of Lezhe – Located in a very natural attractive area close to the Adriatic coastline and surrounded with forests. During the Middle Ages has been called “ the island of Meda “ .It was there in 1501 when the  nephew of Scanderbeg, known as a “ young Scanderbeg “ came from Italy  and organized the camp to organize the resistance against the ottomans  . There area is known for fish restaurants and in particular for the “Hunting Lodge.” This has been built with a special style from the former foreing minister of Italy, Cont Ciano during the Second World War. The area is suitable for hunting, bird watching, excursions and just to relax in the nature .

Ishëm Castle

A castle in Ishëm, Durrës County. It is located on a hill above the river Ishëm. It was built from 1572 to 1574 by Ottomans to stop the peasant rebellions The Albanian painter Ibrahim Kodra was buried in front of it.
